The region has some truly unique and exceptional landscapes with constant views of green valleys, snow-capped mountains, river gorges and the sea. There are inviting networks of maintained forestry tracks, ideal for mountain biking and running, plus limitless kilometers of well-surfaced roads with challenging climbs for the road cyclist. The outdoor five-lane 25-meter pool is just minutes from our doorstep (we use two other 50meter pools when the weather is cooler), and the Mediterranean coastline with it’s long sandy beaches is only 30km away, allowing for ideal training rides with sunbathing and sea swimming sessions. Nearby rivers, and lakes provide further opportunities for open water swimming, a particular strength of the resident coach.
The Centre is located in one of Frances most famous spa towns, providing you with further opportunities for relaxation, recovery and injury treatment. It’s excellent thermal baths offer a wealth of treatments to ease your tired limbs.
The Languedoc and Roussillon region has a magnificent cultural heritage and vast historical wealth. Like much of France, Amelie celebrates good living and cultivates and supports its traditions, with daily markets selling local produce, festivals celebrating music of many forms (there is a huge international music and folk festival held here in Amelie in August) and exhibitions promoting the arts. The regions claim on being the epicenter of worldwide wine production, seems well justified with 275,000 acres under vines! So there are many caves and good wine cellars in the location…should you wish to sample some!
