RIDE PROFILE PAGE.......

Our aim is to make your training specific to both the standards and the needs of your group. To give you a flavour of the terrain and quality of rides we can offer, please take a look at the following six ride profiles (from a selection of many!).

Once you have booked we can produce your own sub-domain from this web-site, which will allow your group  to see what is install for them. This normally includes a map showing the proposed routes; all the ride profiles and a list of those people who have currently booked from your club or group.

Col d'en Xatard 65km....

This is a good ride to introduce you to the area and the type of terrain we have to offer, with an optional cafe stop (if needed) at the top. Leaving Amelie we head down to Ceret (a good easy warm up), before heading up the "Col du Lluaro". The first 3km are the hardest, before it develops into a fast climb to the top of the "Col du Lluaro". We then carry on climbing steadily  for another 6km to Oms where we come to a short descent before climbing once more to the Col Fourtou at 752m Alt. Now we head down for 20km back to Amelie on a well surfaced, technical, but steady descent. My difficulty rating on this ride is 6 /10.

steady climb

Vallespir Time Trial....

Starting on the other side of Arles sur Tech, this is a hard technical time trial. It starts with a 20km gentle but testing climb which gets steeper after 11km (for 5km) before flattening back out. The secret is to hold some in reserve for this climb as it will test you to your limit, before you are able to make your dead turn to return back down to where you began. The descent is very fast, hard and technical. Difficulty rating has to be 9 out of 10. The record to date is:.
speedy

Argeles sur Mer 85km....

This is a steady flat'ish ride (its profile is lying). Leaving Amelie we steadily descend down towards the coast passing through Ceret before heading onto Maureillas. We then continue out towards the coast and  Argeles (coffee stop if needed) before heading parallel to the coast (for a few kms before turning left and heading back towards Amelie. Here we will pass through fields of vines, peaches, and cherries, hitting Banyols (famous for it's strong red wine) and back into the Vallespir. At Le Boulou we follow the valley back up into Amelie  on a fast slightly up hill road. Level of difficulty is 3/10,  this ride can easily carry on along the coast making it a longer ride of up to 160km.

flat

Tour le Madloc 130km....

One of the most picturesque rides you will ever do. Leaving Amelie we head towards the coast and to the beautiful town of Collouire, before climbing up between the famous vine fields of this region and onto "Madeloc", which looks down upon the breathtaking landscape (hope you're not scared of heights) you have just climed through. The descent is technical but equally fantastic into Banyuls-sur-Mer, here we turn left and head back to Collouire, time for a break and a quick look around the town (if you like) and a crepe. Our return ride heads along the coast for a few kilometres before  turning back into the Vallespir, along the lettuce and vine fields and into Fourques. The last climb of the day goes over the Col de Lluaro and down into Ceret before cooling off, back into Amelie Les Bains for a beer and bath.

The Vallespir Big 3 ....

3 grand climbs over 1400m (5000ft). Are you brave enough? Look at the profile, and that is all I am going to say. Level of difficulty is 10 out of 10. However each one can be takled individually or just choose two, it is of course up to you.
hard

Col de Brousse 67km....

Yet another great ride leaving Amelie heading along to  Reynes where we turn left and start the first climb of the day, direction  nbsp;Ceret. Look up and you can see where we are going. Taking a quiet yet well surfaced road starting at 114m alt. and culminating at 861m (in 11km). Not too steep but enough to put you through your paces. Looking behind you, you have spectacular views of Canigu (2784m alt). Once at the top we start descending   steadily but technically down to a small Catalan Village called Las Illas (coffee stop if needed).
Our descent down to Maureillas is a very technical piece of road leading onto St. Jean Plat de Corts (where there is a wonderful lake) before turning left back to Ceret and Amelie. 6/10 for difficulty. Again the ride can keep on going, climbing up to and over 120km should you wish.
