| Amelie Les Bains.... Has been given an Olympic stamp of approval by the I.O.C. as it plays host to a number of the French National Teams ( Cycling, Mountain Biking, Track Riding, Judo, Modern Pentathlon). In February and March numerous professional cycling teams also base themselves in Amelie, for their first "Stage de Preparation" of the season as it has fantastic terrain and a climate that creates an ideal training ground. To sample some of the quality bike routes click on the route mentioned in "Typical Weeks Training". This was just one of the reasons we based "Le Sancture des Sportifs" here in Amelie.
Amelie and the surrounding area
also hosts a number of sporting events...In Amelie itself there is a duathlon; various mountain bike races; a mountain time trial and some road races. The local 20km road race in Ceret attracted an international field of over 1000 athletes. In St Jean Pla de Corts (just 15km away) there is an excellent long, national and sprint distance triathlon weekend; plus various other events. Collouire also hosts both a national & sprint distance triathlon. These are just a few of the very local quality events which can be easily incorporated into your training holiday. |

For swim sessions our nearby lake at St. Jean Pla de Corts (shown left) is superb for getting some quality open water swim time in (so difficult to achieve in many parts of England). There is also a great running track all the way around the lake making it ideal for swim run sessions for any level of triathlete. |
| Although Amelie has an excellent outdoor 25m pool just a
stones through from our accommodation it is presently only open (from May
to September) when we have reserved lane swimming. The rest of the year we use the fantastic 50 metre indoor pool in Perpignan, which can be accessed as an when to suit your groups particular needs. And for all you Decathlon addicts one of the largest sports stores of its kind is conveniently located on the way back. |
